| Lima area - Hancock County About Lima Lima is known for its rich oil history. The production peaked out in the early 1900's. An oil pipeline was actaully built from Lima to Chicago. Lima is known for production of the Sherman Tank. University of Northwestern Ohio established 1920 has several dorms for rent: College Park Dorms, Northwestern Park Dorms, Sherwood Park Dorms, Founders Hall complex, Stambaugh Hall . The newest housing to open is the Affinity Housing Complex which includes a commons building and 4 residental buildings which add 160 student rooms. Lima Hall including Brookhart Hall and Roberts Hall will be undergoing a renovation soon. Clark Hall will be demolished soon. Lima Ohio was rated Most Affordable US Housing Market Q3 of 2004 accoreding to National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index. 90.5 percent of homes sold during the third quarter were affordable to families earning the area’s median income of $52,500. Where as least affordable Santa Maria and Lompoc, CA only 5% of homes sold were considered affordable. The median price for rent is $361. The waiting list for the conventional housing program and Section 8 housing in Allen County is 4,000 families. |
